Our Story

Derrik came home in February of 2010 and saw me and instantly wanted to get to know me. By fall semester of 2010, we were talking off and on and walking to campus together. He instant messaged me one night and we spent a couple hours talking. I emailed him the next morning (over FB) and we had a long drawn out email conversation, when finally he gave me his number. :) I texted him immediately.

Our first time hanging out was Decemeber 9th, when he took me home from school. His final was simply dropping off an essay he wrote, but he waited around for me while I took my math final. We went to a fish store and to Yogurtland afterward. We talked and Derrik had me laughing, just feeling so good. After he dropped me off, we just texted all night. I kind of knew he was interested, from some of the things he was saying, but I honestly thought it would just be flirting, that nothing would come of it. Our first date was December 14th, when we went to the L.A. temple and saw a Christmas show and the Christmas lights (that's why we're getting married there). By then I started liking him and wanting to spend more time with him. The next Tuesday, the 21st, he held my hand and kissed me for the first time! The rest is history :) We became boyfriend/girlfriend on March 7th, 2011 and got engaged on April 14th, 2011.

We haven't gone a day without talking since December 5th, 2010. It has been the best 5 months of my entire life. I'm so excited to spend time and eternity with him. :) I just love that he was so patient from February to December. He's truly the most amazing man I've ever met and I'm so blessed to call him mine. :)
